Que significa "estacas" en esta frase?

I am having some trouble with this sentence:
Palabras peligrosas y estacas que intentan todo quieren decir.
The best I can do is:
"Dangerous words and --- which try everything they want to say"
Which is rather meaningless...
estaca is "stake, peg, picket" according to the dictionary.
Any comments are appreciated!

Dangerous words and anything that would be an obstacle,mean something.
