It is hard to say without much context.
My first instinct is to say that it means "Even then he hadn't beaten it."
But maybe you should tell us where you got this from.
And for future reference you should be able to edit your title if you select "edit" after posting. This will help you not have to make a new thread when you accidentally title your question incorrectly.
Thanks a bunch! A friend is posting random stuff in spanish on his myspace but I think it's in reference to a girls game either soccer, volleyball or softball game. Does that help?
