Can the word leyenda be both feminine and masculine?

I just completed a lesson in livemocha where the word "leyendo" was used and it means: reading. Leyenda, which means "legend", is a noun so there is no masculine version of this word.

As far as I know the word "leyenda" is a female word. But if you were to talk about a person and call that person "a legend", for instance if that person were very famous, I could imagine using a masculine version.

I'm sure a native speaker will help out shortly.

Saludos, Chica

It would still be feminine, ie: He is a good person (Él es buena persona), John Lennon is a legend (JL es una leyenda). - 005faa61, Mar 24, 2010
