question about decirselo
my friend said "no estare en clase hoy, puedes decir carmen y Gloria. she was corrected to "decirselo a...". I think i understand why the statement was wrong but i'm not sure. My understanding of the grammar is:
decir: to tell
le: them
lo: them
but isn't there a rule that says the when le and lo are used together it becomes se lo??
therefore "decir+se+lo" = tell it to them
Is my understanding correct? what are the rules for understanding the correct usage of this?

Yes, your understanding is correct! To learn more you can research "direct and indirect object pronouns" used together. Here's one study source.
