Siempre hay que intentarlo

Ok, I'm seeing this a lot. It looks like, one must always try it but I figure it must be something more logical. If it translates to "You should always give it your best shot" then I don't get it.

Why not? That's roughly what it means. The implication is that you should not just give up something without even trying. What is it that you find confusing?

One must always try it makes no sense, and I don't see how you should always give it your best shot translates, even though that's what I got from it. I will add it as the best shot thing though. Gracias - jeezzle, Mar 22, 2010
Ah- but of course, the literal translation doesn't always work. It doesn't make sense translated literally, but the interpreation is what you figured. - Gekkosan, Mar 22, 2010
