HomeQ&A¿Hola y ...?

¿Hola y ...?

In English we use hello and hi. It means the same thing but hi is informal and is used with people we know or when the introduction is not important. Is there a similar word in Spanish to the English use of hi?

No, we say "hola", and if you want to give more formallity to the situation we say "Buenos días, buenas tardes o buenas noches" depending on the time, of course.

To say "goodbye", we say "chau" (informal), hasta luego o hasta pronto (see you later/soon) or goodbye "adiós" smile
