Video of the Day: Human Zoo...is this abusive?
I first saw this on the news two days ago and thought it would be interesting to discuss. Although most people would describe this park as abusive, the employees claim that it has been nothing but beneficial for them.

Muy fascinante. Parece que los enanos estén muy felices. Sus vidas deben estar mejor de lo que sería en sus comunidades originales. A mí, no me gusta la palabra "enano". Suena como un insulto.
Very interesting. It seems like the dwarfs are happy. Their lives must be better than they would be in the home towns. I don't much like the word "enano", (which translates as dwarf, runt, midget). It sounds like an insult.
Me imagino que estas personas tienen opciones muy limitadas de trabajo. Mi nieto major nació con "Downs Syndrome" y en apariencia es muy diferente de mayor parte de nosotros. Si el único lugar que él podría encontrar un trabajo es en un parque de atracciones temática - pienso que estaría muy triste...
(I imagine that those people have very few options for work. My eldest grandson was born with "Downs Syndrome" and in appearance is very different to most of us. If the only place that he would be able to find a job is in a theme park - I think that would be very sad...)

I don't think it's that bad... They live in their own community, same as Mexicans or Argentinians or Cubans do in the States... They are happy and they have a job... They feel useful!!!!.

What's really, really perverse, in my opinion, is the title: "Human Zoo?"... They don't feel that way... WE are the problem. There are so many ways that human beings degrade one another's dignity, and this tittle is a clear example.

No le veo nada de malo. Ellos viven en su comunidad, como los Mejicanos, los Argentinos o los Cubanos que viven en Estados Unidos... Son felices y tienen trabajo. Se sienten útiles!!!!

Lo que me resulta realmente perverso es el título: "¿Zoológico Humano?"... No me parece que se sientan de esa manera. "Nosotros" somos el problema. Los seres humanos podemos degradar la dignidad de otros seres humanos de tantas maneras, y este título es un claro ejemplo.

Pienso es bueno que tienen una comunidad para vivir y trabajar en, y sentirse aceptado. Sin embargo no querría visitar.
