What is the difference between Te quiero and Te amo?

There are two different was to say "I love you." But what's the difference between the two?

It depends on the situation and the personal way of expresing oneself. Some people like saying about pets "amo a mi perro, gato, pez, etc." but other people just use "amar" when talking about a wife, a husband...

Rikko, "Te quiero" is more general and "Te amo" is like more special. At least in Mexican society is quite hard to say "te amo" to a member of one's family as brothers, sisters...But it's easier saying "te amo" to grandparents. As I said it depends on many things such as culture, age, relationship, confidence, etc.
