What is "pasar de lanza?"

What does this phrase mean? I heard it today used on Facebook in the following excerpt from conversation between an American and a Honduran, who was embarassed by the American's casual use of bad language, and I assumed it meant she "went too far," ("que te pasas"), but I want to get another opinion:

"Pero así te queremos, aunque te pases de lanza a veces. La verdad es que se te oye ch*#gón.

Thanks, Andrea

You're right, it means "to go too far". Sometimes you can express your angry and sometimes just to be funny.
