How do I determine when to use "tazon" vs "cuenco"

The words "tazon" and "cuenco" both mean bowl in Spanish. Can they be used interchangably or are there specific uses for each word?

tazón 1.m. Recipiente mayor que la taza y sin asas,generalmente de forma semiesférica: (a container bigger than a cup without handles, generally semispherical) Spanishdict says: bowl

I, personally, have never heard either of these words used for "bowl" but rather "plato hondo" or just "plato" which I always found confusing since that also means "plate".
