In a pamphlet that a friend was given it refers to Santiago in the Bible. I was told in English the refers to the part of the Bible that would be James, but I have coworkers saying this is not right. If it is not James then what part of the Bible is it refering to?

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Yes, in the Spanish Bible, the Book of James is referred to as "Santiago". Your coworkers are incorrect in this situation. smile

Although it would be helpful to have this in context. I could be referring to someone other than James, the brother of Jesus, who is the author of the book in the Bible. However, I do not remember anyone else with that name mentioned in the Bible. - Nicole-B, Mar 20, 2010
Either way, the translation for James is Santiago. - Nicole-B, Mar 20, 2010
No, that's the translation for Saint James. Quite a different person. - hinchman, Oct 3, 2014
True in spanish, the book of James is called santiago. But most of us compares what we know about naming of saints in spanish e.g Saint John = San Juan, saint mark = san marcos, Saint mathew = San Mateo.why only book of James is attached to San? - 48303, Jul 23, 2016
