I skateboard= correct

I do skateboard= incorrect

I do skateboarding= this is o.k., but not used

You might hear:

I enjoy skateboarding.

I hate skateboarding.

I know English can be inconsistent. We might say "I do yoga.", but probably never "I do skateboarding." I am glad I am learning Spanish instead. raspberry

I do skateboard can be correct if used in the proper context. IE: You don't skateboard, do you? Answer: I do skateboard. Do is used for emphisis and many times written in italics.

That is true. I didn't think of using "do" for emphasis. But I would probably still answer that question by saying: "Yes, I skateboard." or "Yes, I'm a skateboarder." - Nicole-B, Mar 20, 2010
I know, I know. It is clear, if I say "I do skateboard" I am doing emphasis. But, anyway, that was not the question. - nila45, Mar 20, 2010
