My nationality is Spanish

Question

What is your nationality? My nationality is Spanish.

I don't know why, but I am not sure if "my nationality is Spanish" is correct or I should only answer this question like: I am Spanish.

Hi Nila,

Both are perfectly acceptable and interchangeable. Usually in America, since there are so many different nationalities, we shorten it to "I am Spanish" or "I am Italian.".

Either way...no importa.

Either one will work. You can also say, "I am from Spain". Usually, you will get a question similar to "Where are you from?". Any of these answers would be understood.

Nationality is the status of belonging to a particular nation, whether by birth or naturalization, ie: the nationality of an immigrant. And as John has said, both of your answers are correct.

Nationality means the status of belonging to a sovereign state.

You can say I am Spanish but this doesn't imply that you have Spanish citizenship
