What is its meaning in this sentence?

"Don Juan Carlos padece una pérdida de audición leve por lo que utiliza dichos aparatos en ambos oídos desde hace tiempo"

Does it mean 'for a while' ?

Ah ok, clear...i didnt realise you were disagreeing the overall meaning of the sentence translation, since i was just asking about the 'desde hace tiempo' part smile

I must disagree with Nizhoni1's answer. The correct translation is: "Don Juan Carlos suffers from a mild hearing loss, so that's why he has been using those devices on both ears for a long time now".

"Desde hace tiempo" - "for a long time" or "since long ago".

DJC had a mild hearing loss after leaving said apparatus in both ears for a long time.

No. What Nizhone write implies that the hearing loss is the result of wearing the devices on the ears. The actual meaning is that he must wear the decives *because* of a hearing loss. - Gekkosan, Mar 18, 2010
Sorry. I meant "wrote". - Gekkosan, Mar 18, 2010
