How Often Have You Given Up ?
My teacher has been trying to do the subjunctive perfecto with me, but we have never discussed more than in passing how to conjucate, and what the irregular verbs are - so tonight when we had an exercise at the end I told him that I don't want any more classes. I said it very nicely. These are internet classes. I have studied for 13 months.
After the class I found that there are only 6 irregular verbs and they don't seem to be that hard !
I understand that people find the concept hard but I was not really at that stage as I was struggling with the conjucation of irregular verbs I did not know.
Now 15 minutes after the class it does not seem too bad !
Obviously I won't swallow my pride and go back but I probably made a bad decison - but hopefully it won't be my last !

Why is that obvious?
You should obviously do the exact opposite, ask the teacher if he still has time available and that you were mistaken.

I give up all the time. Every day or so it seems. Just a minute ago I did a translation for someone and realized that I don't know the word "hardships" right off the top of my head. Little things frustate you and it seems like you should know it all right away, but it takes forever. My suggestion? Swallow your pride and go back. As men, we must learn that we are never right, and we always do stupid stuff that we have to apologize for. Your teacher will understand.
Hopefully you mis-stated your last sentence, i.e., hopefully it will be your last bad decision!
No not at all. I hope to live long enough to make many more !
I agree with Jeezzle that you should go back Roger. If you admit your frustration with the teacher, I'm sure they will understand. If they don't, maybe they just weren't the right teacher for you.
I want to give up several times a week, but I've learned from experience from other things I have successfully learned, that this is just a normal part of the process. Something that seems impossible to learn, understand or memorize one day, might be very easy the next day.
I have found three things that work when I can't understand something.
- Walk away and work on some other activity for a while.
- Try using a different book, or learning tool, even for a day or so to mix things up.
- Get a good night's sleep and return with new determination the next day.
Just don't every give up!! ![]()
We all trip and fall from time to time. The only failure comes in not getting back up.

Those who achieve are the ones that stick with it, especially if you are doing something because you want to do it, not because you have to. You've put a lot of effort into it - more than most have.
You do not have to give up jst because you felt overwhelmed and retreated in a moment. If you have put 13 months into a thing and have enjoyment in learning, I say ditto jeezle.
It took me a long time to learn to be dogged even in my persona as a dog.
