sneaker ??
the dictionary doesn't really say. It's a weird english word anyways i guess, but how would you say "they wear sneakers" in spanish?

In Mexico they are called 'zapatos tenis' or just 'tenis' or even 'zapatos de deporte' (but it's least common I think).
If you go around calling your sneakers 'zapatillas' in Mexico I think people will look weird at you or just laugh (but maybe not in your face
), especially if you're a man because 'zapatillas' means 'high heel shoes' here
.
Just so you know
.
Imagine yourself in Mexico saying something like:
"Salí a correr en mis nuevas zapatillas esta mañana" lol, what? Weirdo
.
Hmmm, en españa estas son zapatillas:

Estas son zapatillas de deporte:

"sneakers" is the same as tennis shoes.
Around here in Spanish we use "tenis" for "tennis shoes" or "sneakers".
Also from the best reference book of all "Archíe" comic books in Spanish -- I have a bunch of them -- always use "tenis".
"Ellos llevan los tenís". At least, that was how I was taught ![]()
Heidi, these are the shoes that are also called tennis shoes, or trainers in Britain. I think maybe they are zapatillas or tenis in Spanish. ![]()
In Argentina we say:
"(Ellos) usan zapatillas"
o
"(Ellos) tienen puestas zapatillas"(remember the personal pronoum is not necessary in Spanish) ![]()

Zapatillas de deporte.
