you could try "coger", not sure if that's a New World/Old World thing, but I thought that was a pretty direct translation whenever I heard it used.

Not in, at least, 3 Latin American countries. Using "coger" will raise eyebrows. - samdie, Mar 16, 2010
I know what coger means cause I love to research things, but I've come across a few native speakers who have never heard of it before. - SenorMike, Apr 25, 2010

What do you mean by get my car? Steal one, buy one, receive one as a gift, pick it up from being serviced, retrieve it from impound, or what? Find the real verb you want and then simply plug it into the translator and voilá! You will have your answer.
