How to say I do what I want
My granddaughter is saying "Hago que quiero," when she means "I do what I want." What is the correct way to say that in Spanish?

Hago lo que quiero- for I do what I want, and I know exactly what that is.
Hago lo que quiera- for I do what I want, whatever that might be.
We just learned this in class today (IB Spanish 5), so I know this is technically correct, but I am not sure how much the subjunctive form is actually used in this context.
Hago lo que quiero
Hago lo que se me pegue la gana
