That depends both on context (what kind of pie?) and country. Words for baked goods can be very different from one Spanish Speaking country to another.

I'd say "pastel", as a generic word for "Pie". But that word means something quite different in other countries where I've been.

Mexicans pronounce the word the same way as in English, but spell it "pay". This isn't standard Spanish, but it will fly in some countries in addition to Mexico.
