Update on my sister: asking for support and a prayer chain:(

Question

I was fighting with the thought of putting this up, then I was thinking the bigger the prayer chain the better..So here it goes. It has been 6mos. when we found out my sister has stage 4 colon cancer that went to her liver and both lungs. Everyday I go to work and cry for her. I go to bed and cry for her and If I hear her name I cry for her. I went to the doctor with her this pass thursday to hear the out come of her petscan. That day we hear she has 1 and 1/2 years. I just don't know what to do anymore. This is my best friend, my baby sister. She is only 47.

You certainly have my prayers! In horrible situations like this, where we have no control over the situation, it is necessary to accept it. This is very hard to do because you love your sister so much, and she is so young.

My mother passed away with emphysema in 2008. She suffered for four years. It was very hard on me because I was very close to my mother.

I had to fight the tears and feelings, so I really do understand your feelings.

I think prayer is the way to go. The more people that pray for your sister, the more likely a miracle can happen. They are working on new ways of treating cancer daily, especially through targeted therapy, where they can kill the tumors without disturbing the surrounding tissues.

Let’s all pray for cyndee267’s sister and ask God if he would grant her a miracle.

The more people that say a prayer for your sister, the better, so let’s hope this is a very long post.

Cyndee, as a person who is at the moment going through the same thing as you, I feel for you and will pray for you both.

But you still have some time. Please try to make the very most of it. Don't cry for your sister - love her and laugh with her. Build yourself some wonderful memories that will comfort you through the future. Enjoy the moments that you do have now.

Don't look into the next year. Just look at next week.

That's what I am trying to do.

And trust in God to give you all the strength to cope with whatever the future may bring.

Sorry to hear about your sister. My mother in law just had stage 4 cancer and the doctors gave her under a year to live. That was over a year ago. God healed her and the cancer is completely gone, to the doctors surprise. This in no way means that God chooses to heal everyone of cancer that gets cancer. God sends trial in our life to conform us to the image of Christ and glorify Himself which is the purpose of life. If you look back into history you will see that God as used sickness far more to advance His kingdom than He has ever used health. Praise God that He is Sovereign over all creation, He is in control. So pray to God that His perfect will be done and that He be glorified in this trial. In Psalm 34, God says that He draws near to those with a broken heart. Seek Him and He will draw near to you in your trial. I will pray for your sister.

HI cindy, this is sad news, but I think Sheila is right, show her some optimism, even though faked, you don't want her to see you cry and make the time she has left harder for her.

Read to her, go out with her, while she can, go shopping, tell her to go to the hair dresser...I mean, all those things she would normally do, may be.

Really, I don't know...but I have a friend, mother of one of my students, who has been fighting cancer for a long time now, she winning the fight so far...even though she has had so many drawbacks, I don¡'t know how she does it. She just tries to live the day...or the week.

You have my prayers Cyndee. Yes, I know it is sad but if she only has a year, spend it happily. Help her get through this time- just like the song "We live" by Superchick-"There's a man, who waits for the test to see if the cancer has spread yet, so now he asks, "So why did I wait to live 'till it was time to die, if I could have the time back, how I'd live, life is such a gift..." and the chorus is "We live, we love we forgive and never give up".
