It confusing, but if you needed to clarify whom the le was referring to you need to add a ella. Now your subject and your i.o. is he and her as it would be in English.
A ella, le gusta él. (moved subject after verb to avoid... A ella, él le gusta.)
A ella, le= i.o. (her)
él=subject (he)
gusta=intransitive verb
He (él) is pleasing to her. (le, a ella)
Translated to transitive English sentence:
He likes her.
