Am I the only one having problems with the translation engine?

When I enter the following

No creo que estás interesado.

and translate into English I just get the Spanish again.

The more bells and whistles they add, the more things that can go wrong. Now you can tell your browser which languages that you want to see sites in. So when it comes to a site that exists in more than of your language choices it gets confused. Especially when it has the ability to remember your pages from the last time it was opened. I routinely use 3 browsers to visit this site and view my pages in both English and Spanish so I never pay attention to which language my page is set to. So when I click on the little page icons that link me to SpanishDict. in Chrome sometimes they are in Spanish, sometimes in English and they might conflict with my last visit so no wonder the poor browser scratches it head.

Could be - but why not with IE? - ian-hill, Mar 19, 2010

I don't think that you are scrolling down far enough to see the translation. If you are looking at the Google translator, you will only see the Spanish repeated. Scroll the Google windows down and you will see both the Spanish and the English translation.

Actually, IE works best with the google translator... it gives you an inter-page scrollbar, allowing you to scroll down to see what the google translation is. In my experience with it, it is the best. - JCameron, Mar 13, 2010
I use firefox. Which one show the right hand side better. I can never see the end of the sentence as it only occasionaly word wraps to the next line. - 0074b507, Mar 13, 2010

You're not the only one having this issue. I've noticed it a few times in the last week, but I've noticed it mostly the other way- I'm trying to translate from English to Spanish and it gives me the same answer back in English that I put in in English.

At first I thought I must have hit the "Spanish to English" button, but after trying it a second and third time, I realized that the translator just wasn't working in that instance.

This has happened to me two or three times in the past week or so. Other times it seems to work fine.

I'm also a Chrome user. That's an interesting observation.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I have just switched back to using IE from Chrome and it seems to work OK there.

There is something strange with Chrome on my machine - sometimes it puts the webpage up in English and sometimes in Spanish.

The problem with IE for me is that it frequently loses the webpage and has to go looking for it again.

Ian

Once the Spanish phrase is entered, you do realise that you have to scroll down to see the English conversion. Otherwise all you will see is exactly what you entered.

I entered the same phrase and everything worked, so maybe you pressed the english to spanish button. just try again, and if that still doesn't work try going to google translate. It may not be as accurate but it might suffice.
