Creo que esta frase significa "Trekking" en inglés. pero yo quiero saber el significado de la palabra "ruta" en esta expreción. Yo vi esta frase en un texto que describe de vacaciónes en la montaña.

I need more contex in order to give you an intelligent answer. There is a political movement in Peru called "Senderismo" or Sendero Luminoso" your article might be refering to that. But, I am not sure unless you give us more information. Sendero is path. Ruta is route or road or the way one goes from point A to point B.
