Is this the word you use to ask a dog to sit? How is it pronounced?

It's the word you use to tell a dog or a friend to sit down.

The "i" and the "e" form a diphthong. The first part of the word carries the accent.

The consonants in the word are pronounced very much as in English.

Actually, the i and the e don't form a diphthong...that is the purpose of the tilde to break the diphthong. See evanclark's "syllablication". A diphthong would be in the same syllable. - 0074b507, Mar 11, 2010

"see-EN-ta-tay" is how you pronounce siéntate, and yes, that is the tú command for sit.
