Hola SpanishDictians!!

We all use some or other mnemonics to remember words. Let's build a mnemonics repository by sharing those.

e.g. To Attend - Asistir (please Assist us by Attending the guests)

An amazing one shared by nametaken

Las nalgas - nasty gas comes from here (Buttocks).

I have hundreds of these, I'll have to go through the flashcards again and write down the ones I come up with smile.

Here are some for body parts that I already wrote down:

El talón - on birds, their talóns are at their heel

El pecho - the pectoral muscles are on the chest

El torso - is easy to remember!

Las nalgas - nasty gas comes from here (buttocks)

El abdomen - again, easy to remember

El dedo índice - the index finger indicates

Los dientes - what dentists work with (teeth)

La punta del dedo - The point of the finger. (fingertip)

La tibia - also called the tibia in English (shinbone)

La lengua - need this to speak languages (tongue)

El dedo del corazón - in the heart (middle) of the fingers (middle finger)

El muslo - a large muscle (thigh)

La palma - speaks for itself (palm)

El dedillo - is so diddi/small it doesn’t even get a separate word! (little finger)

La pantorrilla - We wear pants over this part of the body, also, if you don’t shave them, they can sometimes look like a gorillas (calf)

La clavícula - the collarbone is also called the clavicle in English

La piel - we peal the skins of fruit (skin)

El ombligo - the umbilical cord was attached to this (belly button)

La pestaña - it’s a real pest when you get one of these in your eye -(eyelash) I pronounce this sentence weirdly to remember: pest an (in) ya eye
El dedo anular - we have wedding anniversaries for people who have a ring (anillo) on this finger (ring finger)

El antebrazo - we can up the ante - so we go up the arm (forearm)

El puño - when I make a fist, it’s really puny (fist)

La cintura - we used to wear corsets which cinched in the waists (waist)

Most of the other ones I have wouldn't make sense to anybody else, but I hope this helps somebody smile.

A woman is called a mujer because she has more hair. (Well, longer hair. Usually.)

Remembering cuento [story] vs. cuenta [bill, sum]: Stephen King (masculine) tells me a story while a waitress (feminine) brings us the bill.

Mostrar [show, demonstrate]: I want to show you something most rare.
