Not sure if I'm hearing it right

Question

I'm trying to translate some Spanish audio, but I'm not sure of the wording.

What I think is being said is,"Does she like popular music?".

What I'm hearing is, "¿Hay ya le gusta música popular?"

Is the "hay ya" correct? If it is, what would be the translation for it?

Actually, listening to it again, I think they're saying:

"¿A ella le gusta música popular?"

Makes more sense, but would the leading "a" be correct?

The personal “a” is used where the direct object of a sentence is a person.

"Ella" not the direct object here, is it?

In this case, the a ella is used for clarification.

To whom is popular music pleasing? Popular music is pleasing to her.

Well I think the a is wrong with out it, it would say "She likes popular music."
