Grammar's help
Hola
I'm still beginner in Spanish, and i need some helps to understand the construction of the sentence below:
A Juan le encanta ver los dibujos animados. Juan loves to watch cartoons.
I just don't understand the use of "A Juan le" can someone explain me what is it and how we use it.
I know encantar is an intransitive verb so it needs an indirect object pronoun. so is "A Juan le " in this case similar to "Se"?
More examples about this points would be appreciated.
Thanks

the "a" in "a Juan" is needed because all people and pets (optional, but I always use it, 'cause I love my pet!
) need an "a" in front of them because well. . .they're alive therefore important, ¿sabes?
and as for the "le" part of your question. . .le just refers to "le encanta" as in "he/she/you (formal) loves. Do you know how that verb chart works? (here it is if you don't!)
Encantar:
Me encanta(n)
Te encanta(n)
Le encanta(n)
Nos encanta(n)
Os encanta(n)
Le/les encanta(n)
See the connection, now? I hope I answered your question and have a great day!!!!!!! ![]()

In Spanish grammar, there is a term referred to as "The personal 'a' ". It is more fully explained at our reference page found by following this link ----> The personal "a".
When I look at your profile page I can see that you have been very busy working on the lessons here at SpanishDict.com. Good for you. If you don't mind a little teaching/learning suggestion, I hope you will look at the index to our reference pages which you can always call upon in the following way:
In the Blue Menu Bar at the top of the screen, you will see these Tabs:
Learn Spanish ?? Flashcards ?? Answers ?? Translation ?? Dictionary ?? More
Point (using your mouse pointer) to the More tab and a 'drop-down" menu will present itself.
"Click" on "Reference" and it will take you to the lead-in page to all our references pages.
The reference pages are a great learning tool and if you are not already familiar with them, I'm sure you'll return to them often for help. If you are already aware of them, sorry for this unnecessary suggestion.

I think that when a person is the object of a verb you have to put in the personal 'a'. As encanta is a reflexive verb Juan is the object as must therefor also be preceeded by the personal 'a'. However, I'm only a beginner myself so wait to see if anyone else thinks if this is correct.
