It seems to be a foreign concept for Latinos. According to this thread, the [novio] groom's best man (or groom's man) is titled padrino de boda, so they refer to all the other bridesmaid's escorts as padrinos de boda.

Seems they do have a word for the ushers if the groomsmen are serving as ushers before the actual ceremony starts.
