I've heard that it's more like an emphasis. So "Eso sí" = (más o menos) "Sure is!" "You got that right!" (fill in your colloquial emphatic "Hell Yeah!" here...

How do these 5, 6, 7 year-old posts keep resurfacing?

With some variations in context, "eso sí" can be used as "now", "mind you". "in truth", "there"...:

El hotel era muy costoso, y todos eran muy snob. Eso sí, ¡qué lujo! The hotel was very expensive, and everyone acted like a snob. Mind you, such luxury!

La Srta.. Wagner era muy estricta y nos hacía trabajar muy duro. Eso sí, era muy justa. Ms. Wagner was very strict and made us work very hard. In truth, though, she was very fair.

¡Eso sí que es un grupo talentoso! There's what I call a talented bunch!

¡Ese sí que es un tipo descarado! Now that's one shameless guy!

There are other options, of course. I'm sure you get the idea.
