I don't believe the phrase is correctly written. (Reads like "laying onself to waste!). I think you mean "ponerse a derecho", which is the legal term that describes the action of a person turning himself or herself in, or responding to a summons from a court, when there has been some sort of legal accusation against him or her.

Are you sure is "desecho"? Isn't it "derecho"... "ponerse derecho" means stand up straight.... but we really need more context
