Hi, having a problem translating this sentence!

'a ellos les daría igual que la hubiera tenido porque yo no iba vendiéndoles a ellos lo que me gustaba.'

The author is talking about music and his children!

It's a bit of an odd sentence out of context.

I interpret it to mean:

"it was all the same to them whether i had it or not, because I wasn't selling them what I liked"

Alternatively: "They could care less that I had it, because I wasn't selling them what I liked".

Hopefully from the context, you'll be able to extract the correct meaning.
