When using direct or indirect pronouns in Spanish to refer to a city, state, or country, do you treat the object as masculine, femine, or neuter?

Since pronoun replace nouns, you will treat the object according to how you would treat the noun gender.

I was not the one who "flagged" your response. Nonetheless, "Since pronouns replace nouns, you should treat the object according to how you would treat the noun's gender (referent's) ." would be much better (personally, I would say "as you would" rather than "according to how you would" but that's a question of style.

ok, I thought there was something completely wrong with the concept of my answer. I think it´s much better if you help me to improve my writing with a suggestion or explanation rather than flagging the whole answer ;) - mediterrunio, Mar 4, 2010

So then where can I find the gender? I have checked the dictionary and do not see any indication of gender.

it should be marked, because Francia is feminine, and Egipto is masculine, for instance. - mediterrunio, Mar 3, 2010
