creo que is followed by the indicitive tense. creo que ella viene. creo que ella ya comió. it is never followed by subjunctive unless it is no creo que, because this doubts what comes next. no creo que ella ya comiera. it could be followed by the conditional if you were to say something like i believe she would eat something now. creo que comería algo ahora.

And if the belief is about one´s self? Is "que" still used?

Por ejemplo:

-Creo que tengo que irme muy pronto.

o...?

-Creo tener que irme muy pronto.

?
