Gone to the dogs is an English idiom. How does one translate it into Spanish please??

According to my Spaish idioms dictionary you can use: 1) ir a la ruina (to go to ruin?) 2) malearse 3) abandonarse

For example:

This country has gone to the dogs Este país ha ido a la ruina.

However, I have no idea which of these if any is in common usage.

I've just checked the dictionary on this site and it gives irse a pique and hundirse.
