I think a marvelous way to begin learning Spanish is to read at least one article a day in Spanish. I would suggest going to a newspaper website where you have the option to change the language from English into Spanish or vice versa, so that you already have an idea of what the article is saying.

Watching movies in English with Spanish subtitles and movies in Spanish with English subtitles is also very helpful.

I believe that with learning a language you should expose yourself to the cultures who speak that language, in this case Spanish. Try going to some restaurants of a particular culture. (for example: a Dominican restaurant, a Spanish tapas restaurant, a Cuban restaurant, an Argentinian restaurant). By going to these restaurants, you will probably contact people who speak Spanish (with that country's accent) which will show you the many different accents.

Another idea would be to look recipes up on the internet. In this way, you can cook foods from around the world. Maybe you can host a party where everyone brings a dish from a different culture. You can call it International Night at My House!
