"How do you divide estacion into syllables?"
"How do you divide estacion into Spanish syllables?"

Still curious about "e" (what I hear) or the "es" (suggested authoritatively by crazyjuggler, an advanced Spanish speaker, if not a native), I looked around for more information on the web about Spanish syllabification and found this lesson suggesting that there are just a few simple rules.
Word Division
The syllables are divided according to the following rules:
1). Between two consecutive strong vowels: fe-o
2). Between two consecutive vowels when one is accented: dí-a
3). Between two consecutive consonants: es-tar
So perhaps what roberts123 is looking for is es-ta-ci-ón?
Now I promise not to post again unless I actually see this word divided somewhere![]()
I do not know enough about Spanish to give you a definitive answer. In fact, I really don´t know enough about syllabification to give an answer for any other language, either:--) But.....I want to question crazyjuggler's suggestion.
In my first post to your question, I referred you to a site that discusses Spanish syllabification. There we can read:
Keep prefixes intact: You may break the first rule above to keep a prefix intact. Thus, sub-ur-bio, not su-bur-bio, and des-or-den, not de-sor-den.
If "es" is a prefix in the word estación, the quoted rule would allow for the syllabification suggested by crazyjuggler. But is it...is "es" a prefix in this word? I do not know.
If it is not, don't we have to ask how the native speaker pronounces the word? Listening to the pronunciation given here at this site by the synthesized voice in the dictionary, I hear e-sta-ci-ón.
