Feeling a little disapointed
Hola a todas!! Im going to Argentina in 2 weeks. 2 semanas en la escuela de espanol y 1 semana libre. I will be attending a School called "Rayuela" which is situated in San Telmo BA. I have just received my evaluation test results so they can determine which course to put my in. The course is -beginners1, beginners2, pre-intermediate1, pre-intermediate 2, intermediate1, intermediate2, adv1 and adv2. I really thought i would come in around the pre-intermediate1, pre-intermediate2 r intermediate1. My results placed me into beginners2. I feel dejected!!!!!!!!! One thing I supposethat is in my favour is that I know that the school is very intense and serious and picks out any error (constructive critism).

First of all:
How can you feel dejected when you are going to go to Argentina for two weeks!
Lucky!
Second of all: We all tend to place lower on language tests than we think we should because of what I like to call "knowledge gaps" (our areas of weakness in the language)
My advice?
Just enjoy it!
Take advantage of the experience and don't obsess about where you are at in your perceived level of knowledge!
I am an English teacher and often come up against this with foreign students at my school. The level that you are placed in is the best one to get as much out of the short time that you will be there and if you find it too easy I am sure there will be no problem with changing levels.
Your going to Argentina. You're very lucky. I have some wonderful Argentinian students.

I'm betting that you will learn a lot more Spanish outside the classroom in any case.

Consider the time you spend in the classroom as formal "review" time.
In fact, I am sitting here in Texas this morning reviewing a Spanish grammar "Las formas verbales" that one should probably go through within the first six months of starting to learn Spanish. It is basic, basic, basic. It is nonetheless helpful, helpful, helpful.
Don't worry about your level when you get there. Just think about what level you will reach upon leaving.
Give Argentina our best regards and enjoy your stay. I do envy you! ![]()
Thanks for all your support everyone!!! Its good to know there are alot of shoulders here to lean on when you feel a bit down. I do appreciate it!!!!
I agree with everyone else, you're going to Buenos Aires to learn Spanish for goodness sakes. I'm jealous!
Oh you lucky thing! I'm quite jealous!
I wouldn't worry about your level, if they've placed you right, you'll learn the most and enjoy it best, and if they've placed you wrong you'll be the smartest in your group! It's a win-win situation
!
Better to start at the level you will be able to learn from most in this experience.Have fun with your studies. If they place you too high you might just spend a few weeks feeling confused and trying to catch up.
