My boyfriends sisters called me a wheta, not sure exactly what it means but I know it is very ugly. Can you translate literally or not so please

I agree with Moe that she is probably saying "guera". I've been referred to as "La guera" and I'm not blond. It is often used to refer to any light-skinned female. "Guero" would be for a light-skinned male. It's not a particularly ugly thing to say though I guess it's not exactly polite to say: "the white girl" or "the blond girl" instead of saying your name. I've never taken it personally since the Spanish speakers that I knew were always calling each other by nicknames like "perro" (dog), "monstro" (monster), "chaparro" (shorty), etc. and no one ever got insulted.

For those of us who have not attuned our ears very well to spoken spanish, "guera" which seems to be complimentary is easy enough to mis-hear and/or to misspell.

I hope she called you "guera". It sounds like a cutsey courtesy.

"wh" is not a combination used in Spanish- just English. Perhaps you can write out the pronunciation and I'm sure we could figure out what you are trying to say and help you out. Sorry about your dilemma.
