In Don Quijote de la Mancha he talks about que diera el por "dar una mano de coces" to someone. literally it means to give a hand of kicks. But it doesn't really mean that, does it?

maybe you should put the whole sentence so we can understand a little more. i've never heard this expressin before but what i think it means is "to help" like help out

The whole sentence is: "Diera el por dar una mano de coces al traidor de Galalon, al ama que teine y aun a su sobrina de anadidura." - jaimeelk, FEB 25, 2010
