As I told i think enseñar is the normal verb to use, and aleccionar is used very few in the real life.

Aleccionar in Mexico sounds more like as "to lecture" (sermonear). 
We rather use "instruir", "entrenar", "enseñar" or "educar".

¡Qué interesante! Ahora me pregunto ¿qué da a entender esta palabra en otros países hispanohablantes? Por que ni el diccionario de DRAE ni el de Larousse dio a entender la palabra sermonear.
