la boca abierta
hi all,
here is the sentence , ´ Cuando él entró en la sala, miró hacia el sofá y vio la cara de una pobre muchacha con los ojos cerradas y la boca abierta. ´
I want to know the meaning of ´ la boca abierta´...? ´ opening mouth ?´ i looked up at the dictionary, which means ´speechless´.. i am not sure whether it carries another meaning in this sentence..
thanks all, damax

In that sentence, I doubt it. Looks like she´s dead. And I guess the meaning of that open mouth should become clear in the next sentences.
But a gesture of surprise is to look at something/someone with you mouth open, as if speechless, but it´s usually done with your eyes wide open too.
