Are the conjugations for the verb 'leer' correct?

Question

Regarding the verb ‘leer’, are the accents on the 1st person plural and 2nd person singular and plural correct? I've just finished lesson 2.6 and the conjugations located here at leer conjugated do not seem to match what was discussed in the video.

These are the forms listed at the link I included.

Preterit leí leímos leíste leísteis leyó leyeron

Let me clarify, the form in question is near 15:00 in the video, where the answer to the question is leiste not leíste. - h1deaway, Feb 23, 2010

Yes The accents on the preterit forms you posted of the verb leer are all correct, as well as those on the chart shown in the video for the er/ir verbs. Generally only the yo and el/ella/usted forms of the er/ir verbs have the accent or tilde. However an exemption (for er/ir verbs) exists when the stem ends in a vowel. For example:

****leer = le + er ; leí leímos leíste leísteis leyó leyeron creer = cree + er ; creí creímos, creíste creísteis creyó creyeron caer = ca + er ; caí caímos caíste caísteis cayó cayeron huir = hu + ir ; huí huímos huíste huísteis huyó huyeron**

In these cases tildes are used to avoid creating diphtongs, and that **i is replaced as y in the 3rd person to avoid triphthongs.****

However in normal cases the conjugation chart on the video is applied: compare

beber = beb + er ; bebí bebimos bebiste bebisteis bebió bebieron
