In as much as a big hit, the song Volaré, as far as I know, was originally sung by Domenico Modugno in Italian. Later by Bobby Rydell in English. But the version that I find most exciting is that of Los Gypsy Kings Of Spain. See if you don't agree. Enjoy.

This song is sung in karaoke fashion in the movie "Los Lunes Al Sol" with Javier Bardem. It is a wonderful scene, in a great movie, in my opinion!

I love Gypsy Kings and although this version was good it was dissapointing to have

them singing in Italian, I would have prefered it in spanish if only for the practice.

I guess I am selfish and greedy for more practice . grin cool smile

Yeah, that's right, but did he sell as many records as the others? - 005faa61, Feb 21, 2010
Don't know but he had a lot of top selling hits in the 50s, I have most of them in my music collection. - kenwilliams, Feb 21, 2010
Then surely you have "Amore." - 005faa61, Feb 21, 2010
I sure have, I used to do a good impersonation of Dean singing that when I was a teenager - kenwilliams, Feb 22, 2010
I think Dean Martins was the most recorded, he also sang it in the film. - ray76, Oct 22, 2010

Paco de Lucia es uno de mis favoritos. Las grabaciones con John McLaughlin y Al DiMeola son increibles. Gracias por las enlaces. - KevinB, Oct 21, 2010

It seemed appropriate to revisit this old thread given that our current word of the day is volare.

Pesonally, I like the Dean Martin version.

I didn't see this the first time around. Thanks for sharing Julian. I have heard this song hundreds of times by many different artists, but never this one.

I love the guitar in this version! smile
