Hi martin and if no one has already done so let me welcome you to the SpanishDict forum

The number of the possessive adjective has to match the number (singular/plural) of the object that it modifies and not the subject (i.e. does not matter if the verb is singular or plural).

mi libro/mis libros - my book/my books

mi zapato/mis zapatos - my shoe/my shoes

Yes, you are matching the possesive "mis" to the word it is describing, "libros", which is plural. If you had only one book, then it would be "mi libro". grin
