I want to say "Two or three weeks ago I read the book Animal Farm by George Orwell." I know I should use the term "hace." Can you tell me if this is right?

Hace dos o tres semanas que leyó el libro Animal Farm, por George Orwell.

I'm not sure about if there should be a "que" in there. How would you translate my English sentence?

Thanks in advance for all the help you can give me. Anyone's help is appreciated, but a Spanish native speaker would be REALLY appreciated!

No you wasn't quite right, you used third person tense of leer, I missed that, Nicakim22 has given the correct answer. - kenwilliams, Feb 18, 2010
