Is the future tense form of ir+a+inf. more common or is the actual future tense more common?

In conversational language the simple future (ir+a+inf.) is very widely used.

Very confusing answer. "ir+a+inf." is the periphrastic way to express the future. The "simple future" of (for example) "hacer would be "haré" - samdie, Feb 15, 2010

Yes, I agree that the simple future is used a lot in every day conversation.
