Short translation
I have to translate the following text into Spanish for my wife.
Below I have appended my "translation". I would be extremely grateful if somebody with an expert eye would be so kind as to identify any potential howlers.

Hello and thanks Antonio for inviting me here. Excuse me, my husband, who speaks Spanish, wrote this for me, and I hope you can understand me). I'm very pleased to be here in Mexico at a conference on the gothic and so pleased that our former student, Antonio, is encouraging the study of Gothic here. I'm also so pleased to be here because my research is now focusing on the global gothic. Terror, as Poe famously said, is not of Germany but of the soul. Gothic too, I think, is not the product of any specific culture or geographical area. It transcends all such boundaries.
While I'm here, I hope I'll have the chance to learn from you whether you think there is a Mexican gothic. And now, back to English...

Hola Antonio, y muchas gracias por haberme invitado aquí. Perdóneme, mi marido, que habla español, escribió esto para mí, y espero que ustedes me puedan entender).
Estoy muy complacido de estar aquí en Mexico en una conferencia sobre el Gótico y tan complacido de que nuestro ex alumno, Antonio, es alentador el estudio del gótico aquí.
También estoy tan complacido de estar aquí porque mi investigación se está centrando ahora en el concepto de Global Gothic o sea, culturalmente hablando, el mundo gótico international.
El terror, como Poe dijo famosamente, no es de Alemania, sino del alma.
El Gótico tambien, en mi opinión, no es el producto de una determinada cultura o zona geográfica.
Trasciende todas las fronteras.
Mientras estoy aquí, espero que tendré la oportunidad de aprender de ustedes si ustedes piensan si hay un gótico mexicano o no. Y ahora, de vuelta a Inglés.
