Quiero decir, ellos "act out." ¿Portarse mal es el dicho correcto?

Gracias,

ellos se portan mal could be an option if you´re talking about children.

Why don´t you put the phrase in context? That way it will be easier to give you some other choices.

Apparently, act out is not only to behave in an antisocial manner. it´s also a specific psychologycal description known as paso al acto in Spanish.

My suggestion:

As a result of incest, they act out. = Como consecuencia del incesto, actúan impulsivamente / actúan por impulso.

Sorry for the delay- as a result of incest, they act out (personajes en una novela). - Kerri, Feb 14, 2010

If it is referring to bad behaviour you could say, "no se comportan bien".

Besides what has already been suggested you might also say, "dar guerra"
