here, to be (estar) is referring to location... ser is used for relationships

I agree with you but there's a little thing. Estar is not only for a location, it's also commonly used to refer to a relationship. Also, "quiero ser contigo" does not make sense. Regards. - axolos, Feb 14, 2010

Quiero estar contigo: I want to be with you.
The option proposed by kenwilliams is also correct, but specific for that situation.
