I'm going to Honduras next month

Hello everyone, I am going to Honduras next month to a place called Valley of the Angels. I'll be there for 2 weeks. If anyone has any suggestions on what to see or do I'd be happy to hear them. The main purpose of the trip is to help build a school, but I expect I'll have some free time to do a little sight seeing. One place I really want to visit Copan. I would love to see the Mayan ruins. I've heard that Copan is a hard place to get to. I've heard that it's a dangerous road full of bandits and thugs that prey on tourists. I really don't think that would stop me. It would only add to the adventure. Anyway, I'll thank you all in advance for any ideas and suggestions you have to offer. Take care.

That is so great that you have this opportunity to visit Honduras! It is also impressive that you will be involved with building a school. I have had several opportunities to do things like this in Latin America and it has been extremely rewarding and life changing.

I know absolutely nothing about the country itself. The one thing I would suggest is that you bring a small notebook and pen with you everywhere you go. I did this last summer in the Dominican Republic. I was able to fill almost every page with all of the new words and expressions I learned. When you don't understand something, don't be afraid to ask. Spanish speaking people are extremely helpful when it comes to encouraging you to learn their language. Children really love to help in this way.

The reason I think this is important is because while you are there, you think you are going to remember everything. But believe me, you will be amazed at how many words and expressions you will be taught that you will completely forget about until you see it again in the book. You are going to be bombarded with new experiences and memories, so don't leave any of your newly learned vocabulary to chance.

Have a great trip and hopefully you will be able to share your experience with us in words and pictures!!
